Chan Charlie Chan

Chan Charlie Chan is a new Malaysian restaurant in Building 80 in RMIT. RMIT students are going to love this. They have just been opened for three weeks now.

I managed to check them out during the Easter holidays on a day when there were no students but staff.

They do late brunch as well as lunch and dinner. They are open until 8pm. They also do Teriyaki burger which is one of their specialities. They specialize in nutrition and the guy that runs the place is a food blogger and traveller.

He wasn't there that day, but the girls that were, were really lovely and they let me take photos of the store. In fact they gave out an evaluation form which I was quite content in filling this out.

They had a Facebook promotion where if you simply like them and are the first 10 customers to visit the store on that day, you get a free meal. Each day there would be the meal of day posted on Facebook.

The meal of that day was nasi goreng ($11.50 with prawn crackers). It was supposed to be with chicken slices, but seeing as I'm vegetarian I had asked them to give it to me without. THis nasi goreng had sultanas in it which is typical Malaysian. It was spicy, but it was not too spicy. The egg was just a tad bit overcooked.  The yolk was not runny. Rather it was dry.

I had a iced lemon tea ($2.50) which was sweet but lemony at the same time.

Verdict: Do give them a try. I can't wait to try other things on their menu.
