Fredericks opens in Richmond

As part of RNIS's Healthy Living Month
As part of Bupa's best blog competition.

Fredericks is a small, local store which sells Australian made produce and foods. They support Australian businesses and suppliers.

They are on Bridge road right outside a tram stop and it is about 10 minutes from the city.

Here the service is very friendly and they aim for a much more personal service over your average check out. They are always happy to answer any your questions.

They are not keen on plastic bags so do bring your own. However if you forget yours then you can buy one for $3-$6. You can also buy a basket for $14.

Unlike Thomas Dux down the road they are not big on the commercial stuff. Rather they like all the country food such as Yarra Valley, Hepburn springs water, Springhill farm.

Jams

Coffee beans for sale

Mission statement

Fresh produce

Duck eggs

Their rolls are freshly made each day using the finest produce. Their rolls change daily and although I'm not a meat eater I sampled  their lamb with beetroot relish (from Maria's Dips), lettuce and red onion for a mere $5.  I also had their Harcourt Apple Juice for a mere $2.

Their fruits are fresh and here I tried an organic green apple. It was fresh and a little bit sour.

Out on display there were some samples of chocolate and coffee milk which I tried. These are not like the Big M ones where they have lots of sugar and preserves

Do come here for fresh produce that is good for your health and they are known to have the best pies around
